Today at Hiawatha garden third graders harvested lettuce, spinach, and radishes. We washed the vegetables and we put them in a pillow case. We spun the pillow cases to help the vegetables dry. Then we put the vegetables in a bowl and we enjoyed eating our garden harvest. We also pulled weeds out of the garden and watered our plants such carrots that we will pick in the fall.

We also put worms into the compost pile. Worms will help break down food in our school cafeteria’s compost.
